Learning to Play Basketball
The first time I played basketball was in the sixth grade. For basketball that is a lot later than most people start playing. Many started playing basketball when they were in the third grade. Of course for me just starting to pay it was very intimidating. I thought to myself, how am I suppose to compete with girls who have been playing for three or four years. I knew that I was going to have to work extra hard and practice longer than everyone if I was going to compete with them.
When I first started playing I could not dribble to save my life. I would dribble it up to my face, which was bad. I also could not shoot. I would shoot with both hands. I'd just throw it at the basket and hope that the ball would go in. I learned that I needed to dribble the ball a lower. Also that I needed to shoot with one hand as the other one is just a guide hand.
All of the hard work that I put in finally payed off. I moved up from the B team to the A team. Then when high school came i made the freshman team as a freshman. I kept working and sophomore year I made the varsity team. Through this whole this I learned that you have to work hard to achieve your goals. What are some goals that you have? What do you do to achieve this goals?
